Advocacy for Black Reproductive Justice

Welcome to the Advocacy page of Delaware's Black Reproductive Justice Coalition. Here, we work to promote and protect the reproductive rights of Black individuals in our community. We believe that every person has the right to make decisions about their own body, health, and future, without discrimination or barriers.
Midwives Matter Campaign
One of our key advocacy efforts is the Midwives Matter Campaign. This campaign aims to increase access to quality maternal healthcare for Black individuals in Delaware. Midwives play a crucial role in supporting and empowering birthing people. By advocating for better training, funding, and recognition for midwives, we can help reduce maternal mortality rates and improve outcomes for Black mothers and babies.
Systemic Racism and the Importance of Black Reproductive Justice
Systemic racism continues to impact the reproductive health and rights of Black individuals in our society. From inequitable healthcare access to discriminatory policies, Black people face unique challenges in accessing reproductive care and making decisions about their reproductive futures. This is why advocating for Black reproductive justice is crucial. By challenging systemic racism, advocating for policy changes, and amplifying the voices of Black individuals, we can work towards a future where all people have the freedom to make decisions about their own bodies, families, and futures.
Doula Friendly Hospital Policies
Our coalition is actively engaging all of the hospitals in the State of Delaware to assist them in creating policies and implementing an integrated doula care throughout maternal and infant health care delivery teams in their systems.
Here is a guide for hospital Doula policy creation.
